East Taupo Arterial (ETA)
Construction of the East Taupo Arterial has surged ahead during recent months, so much so, it is expected the highway will be open before the end of 2010.
Sealing is underway and the majority of the ETA between Taupo Airport and the Waikato River will be completed prior to winter. At the same time, road signage and roadside protection barriers are being installed along the 16km route. The Waikato River Bridge has now been lifted into it's final position and weighing 400 tonnes, required three large cranes to complete the task. The concrete precast panels have now been placed allowing the concrete deck to be poured in preparation for the final top layer of seal.
